| pt_BR |

dc.description.abstractx | The research discussed the teaching of indigenous themes in Caruaru-PE. After the approval of Law No. 11.645/2008 and the CNE Opinion 14/2015, the inclusion of indigenous themes in teaching has provoked several debates, both in the academic field (occurring with greater assiduity) and in Basic Education. The education systems, as well as the school units and professionals in Education were/are challenged to discuss the history and cultures of indigenous peoples in daily school experiences. This task has apparently represented difficulties, since there is great ignorance on the part of the majority of Brazilians in relation to indigenous peoples, with images and discourses that are even racist, stereotypical and constantly folklorized predominating. Caruaru is a relevant municipality in the state of Pernambuco, known as a regional capital, standing out in the Agreste sub-region in economic and population aspects. The 2022 Demographic Census, carried out by IBGE, counted 599 indigenous people in the area, probably migrating from their territories of origin due to land conflicts caused by invaders and/or in search of better living conditions, being part of the city's daily life and consequently in school spaces. Therefore, to understand the applicability of Law No. 11,645/2008 with CNE Opinion 14/2015 in Caruaru, we held dialogues with researchers and interviews with teachers working in the final years of Basic Education. We also analyzed the Municipal Education Plan, the Caruaru Curriculum and the History textbook for the final years, aiming to answer the concerns of the study. Furthermore, seeking to deepen knowledge about indigenous people in Pernambuco, a Pedagogical Product was developed to contribute to the teaching of indigenous themes. The implementation of the 2008 Law and the 2015 Opinion supports a society that overcomes racism, prejudice and misinformation, becoming inclusive by knowing and respecting indigenous sociodiversities. | pt_BR |
