dc.description.abstract	Problemas relacionados à mobilidade urbana estão cada vez mais presentes no cotidiano e refletem diretamente na qualidade de vida da população, tornando necessário o planejamento de soluções que possam amenizar tais problemas. Esse trabalho tem como finalidade apresentar as diretrizes para implantação de uma malha de VLT (Veículo Leve sobre Trilhos) no Recife e avaliar a compatibilidade desse modal de transporte nos corredores da cidade e seu potencial para atrair passageiros e diminuir a quantidade de veículos particulares. A metodologia empregada para realização deste trabalho consiste na apresentação das características e exigências do sistema e, junto com dados de demanda dos principais corredores, foi definida uma malha com 9 linhas e um total de 147 km, a qual visa abranger grande parte da cidade e integrar com outros modais. Também foi discutido o contexto histórico do VLT e como cidades em todo o mundo têm apostado nesse transporte para seus amenizar seus problemas de trânsito.	pt_BR

dc.description.abstractx	Problems related to urban mobility are each day more present in daily life and reflect directly on the population‘s quality of life, making it necessary to plan solutions that can decrease this problems. This study aims to present the guidelines for the implementation of a LRV (Light Rail Vehicle) network in Recife and to evaluate the compatibility of this mode of transport in the city’s corridors and its potential to attract passengers and decrease the number of private cars. The methodology used to perform this work consists on presenting the characteristics and requirements of the system and, along with demand data from the main corridors, it was defined a network with 9 lines and a total of 147 kilometers, which intends to cover a large part of the city and integrates with other systems. It was also discussed the historical context of the LRV and how cities around the world have been betting on this transport to relieve their traffic problems.	pt_BR
